Foundations of Adult Learning Seminar

Each prospective EXD Program student is required to attend the on-campus Foundations of Adult Learning Seminar. Seminars are conducted on the UA campus in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for 3 days several times each year.

The seminars introduce the advising system, the curriculum and degree planning procedures, including the out-of-class learning contracts and prior learning assessment processes. In addition, they serve as an opportunity to assure that the EXD Program meets the educational goals and personal needs of prospective students.

Students are required to be on campus only once to attend the 3-day Foundations of Adult Learning Seminar. Additional degree planning and coursework is conducted by telephone, electronic mail, and written correspondence.

SEMINAR ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED AND CANNOT BE WAIVED.

Due to an increased demand for entrance into the External Degree Program, applicants are required to wait approximately 6 months before placement into a seminar.

Advising
Advising is integral to the External Degree Program. Students are assigned to an academic advisor at the Foundations of Adult Learning Seminar and are in contact by letter, telephone, and e-mail as needed.
