EXD 331-112 Writing Strategies for Research  
(Students entering January 2007 and beyond).

2 hrs. Senior Project Element                                                                                              Teaches the basics of writing an argumentative research paper.  Students will learn how to use the library and library databases, while organizing information to be presented in an MLA formatted research paper.  Students will learn about article annotations, correct use of quotations, plagiarism, paraphrasing, synthesis and organization for research papers.  Must be completed PRIOR to beginning the newly revised 6-hour Senior Project. May NOT be completed concurrently with the Senior Project.  Student must earn a grade of C or better for contract before beginning 6-hr. Senior Project. Must be completed within six months of enrollment.


 

EXD 345-124  Leadership in Literature and Film  
available June, 2007                                                                                    
Mr. Paavo Hanninen    
4 hrs.    Administrative Science or Humanities/Leadership Studies or Literature, Arts & Society

Many great literary figures are required by the author to exhibit leadership in one form or another.  In this contract, the role of leadership will be studied, as portrayed by key characters in several important works of literature.  Students will discover how fiction can help teach important leadership issues and discover the role of leadership in the structure of literary works.

Updated Fee Structure
The current 2008-2009 tuition rate is $296.00 per credit hour.  This rate is good from August 2008 through August, 2009.

 

REVISED SENIOR PROJECT PROPOSAL DEADLINES
Targeted Graduation (Advisor will accept Student's senior project proposal during this window only)

May July 15 - Sept. 1
August Nov 15 - Jan 1
December April 15 - June 1

 

Late proposals will be handled with the next graduation group.

 

Students using Federal Financial Aid to pay for their projects should submit their proposal by the earliest date in these windows, to ensure timely placement/enrollment in the project.  It is incumbent upon the student to submit his/her proposal early.  A delayed submission could adversely affect the student's ability to collect Financial Aid.

 

New Enrollment Form
With our new enrollment procedures, we have a new form for you to use to enroll EXD contracts.  You can find
here or you can find it on the “Groups” site at MyBama.ua.edu.

 

Prior Learning
Attention anyone interested in doing Prior Learning. You no longer need to send in the $500.00 with your regular ASK or $150.00 with your Modified ASK.

Go ahead and send in the proposal for either to the attention of Kevin Thornthwaite and he will guide you through the new payment process on MyBama.ua.edu.

We would like to invite you to a exciting new site for active EXD students that includes important information, updated announcements, new challenging contracts, photographs, EXD forms and all sorts of other information that will help you as you make your way to graduation.

Visit this site at MyBama.ua.edu. On the home page in the upper right hand corner click on the “Groups” icon (little picture of people) and then search for External Degree. When you click on that, you will be directed to the new Groups site. Make use of this site and visit it frequently for new information.
