EXD 320-105/6: Professional and Academic Use of the Internet
Dr. Beverly Ray 2-3 hrs. Administrative Science / Leadership Studies
To introduce the student to the social, legal, and ethical issues related to the use of the Internet in professional and academic settings. The widespread use of computing technology has changed the way we work, play and interact with other people. These changes have created a flood of new social and legal issues that demand critical examination. The course also focuses on the research potential of the Internet.
EXD 320-116: History & Practices of Family Enterprises
Mr. Paavo Hanninen 3 hrs. Administrative Science / Leadership Studies
Family owned enterprises have played a long and significant role in both world and U.S. economic history. Many of the products and services used today were first envisioned and created by entrepreneurs who went on to establish and sustain business enterprises that would last for generations. And yet, most family enterprises do not survive more than one or two generations. Research indicates that upwards of one third of all family firms only last one generation, while fewer than that last beyond two generations. But despite the difficulties they have faced, family owned firms have shaped much of our current world.
EXD 345-124: Leadership in Literature and Film
Mr. Paavo Hanninen 3 hrs.
Administrative Science or Humanities/Leadership Studies or Literature, Arts & Society Many great literary figures are required by the author to exhibit leadership in one form or another. In this contract, the role of leadership will be studied, as portrayed by key characters in several important works of literature. Students will discover how fiction can help teach important leadership issues and discover the role of leadership in the structure of literary works.
EXD 335-108: Analytical Thinking in Experiential Learning
Mr. Kevin Thornthwaite 3 hrs. Electives
This course will equip students with the tools necessary to utilize the application of critical thinking in the development of experiential learning assessment. Upon completion, the student should be able to: identify the elements of academic-level knowledge and guiding principles in one (student-chosen) field of study; investigate the academic context of experiential learning through written biography; integrate and organize elements of experiential learning into a format for credit evaluation; and demonstrate elements of critical thinking, academic research, and discourse to discuss fully the academic context of experiential learning.

Updated Fee Structure
The current 2009-2010 tuition rate is $296.00 per credit hour. This rate is good from August 2009 through August, 2010. There is also a $10.00 Arts & Science fee for each enrolled credit hour.

Late proposals will be handled with the next graduation group.
Students using Federal Financial Aid to pay for their projects should submit their proposal by the earliest date in these windows, to ensure timely placement/enrollment in the project. It is incumbent upon the student to submit his/her proposal early. A delayed submission could adversely affect the student's ability to collect Financial Aid.

Prior Learning
Attention anyone interested in doing Prior Learning. You no longer need to send in the $500.00 with your regular ASK or $150.00 with your Modified ASK.
Go ahead and send in the proposal for either to the attention of Kevin Thornthwaite and he will guide you through the new payment process on MyBama.ua.edu .

Visit this site at MyBama.ua.edu . On the home page in the upper right hand corner click on the “Groups” icon (little picture of people) and then search for External Degree. When you click on that, you will be directed to the new Groups site. Make use of this site and visit it frequently for new information.
