Important Contract Policies
Purpose
To present the concept of wealth accumulation, protection,
and transfer in a concise, integrated overview, demonstrating
the consequences and benefits of sound financial planning on
family wealth.
Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the estate planning process.
- Identify characteristics of the unified transfer tax system.
- Calculate federal estate and gift tax liability.
- Select appropriate exclusion and valuation techniques.

Identify the steps in the probate process.
- Describe the characteristics and uses of trusts.
- Analyze the use of life insurance contracts in the estate plan.
- Select the most appropriate property for lifetime, post mortem, and charitable transfer.
Methodology
Students will read assigned chapters in the text and complete
selected questions at the end of the chapters. The assignments
will be mailed to the student after the contract has been enrolled
by the External Degree office.
*Discussions by phone are acceptable, at the student's initiation.
Best times to call are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 1:30-4:30pm,
CST.
